I haven’t read any of Billerbeck’s new stuff, Georgiana. Has she changed her style or just her covers? Tamara Leigh was my favorite, and now she’s writing regency. You know what I love is a mixture of chick lit characters with suspense–like the movie Knight and Day. Exciting AND fun!

Oh, man. I miss chick lit!!! That’s when I started writing too. Talk about majoring missing a trend! It’s sad that the CBA publishers have completely shut it down because now I’ve had to read ABA–which of course has some objectionable stuff in it. But I totally need the laugh! Where the quirky character is the main character and not relegated to sidekick.

I’m with you. I love an over-the-top character. I loved Uncle Billy in Jan Karon’s series. Characters like that make a story, even if they play a minor role. I’d like to write mysteries with characters like that. After all, nobody reads because they love “normal.”

You’re so right, Ron. It’s easy to get distracted, but if we can keep our focus on Jesus, everything else fades and loses its power to pull us under. If I could just figure out how to do that laser focus thing, it would make things a lot easier!

Nice post, Susan. The one thing I always got out of that story is that Peter began to sink when he took his eyes off The Lord. As Christian writers, we need to keep that in mind. Our eyes are first on The Lord. Otherwise, we’re in over our heads.

Sounds like your crit partner is a keeper! Yes, I’ve definitely learned to slow down and smell the roses. Pretty nice fragrance once who get past the exhaust fumes!
